Skelton & Brotton Parish Council Queen’s Birthday Senior Citizen’s Afternoon Tea
Skelton and Brotton Parish Council held another successful Afternoon Tea Party on Tuesday 21 June 2016. The timing was perfect to incorporate a celebration of the Queen’s 90th Birthday and Skelton Civic Hall was aptly dressed in red, white and blue.
The event was once again well attended with guests enjoying savoury and sweet delights catered by Julie Green, from Julie’s Cafe and Outside Catering.
Entertainment was once again provided by George and Marie Brown, and a rendition of ‘Underneath the Arches’ by some members of the usual Entertainment Party, Councillor Mrs Kay Walker and Margaret Bowman.
£89.01 was collected in donations for the Chair’s Charities, The Great North Air Ambulance, the British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research UK Kids and Teens and Help for Heroes.
Chair of Skelton and Brotton Parish Council, Councillor Angus McDonald thanked everyone for attending, the Parish Council Staff for ‘waiting’ the tables, and thanked George and Marie and the Entertainment Party for making the event so enjoyable. He mentioned that the Parish Council would be holding a Ukulele Band Concert in October and hoped to run the Afternoon Tea Parties again next year.
He later said that he’s really happy the Tea Parties continue to be well attended, and is pleased to see some new faces amongst the regular attendees.
