Mrs Irene Taylor celebrated her 87th Birthday on the day. Mrs Taylor had unfortunately been unwell the past few weeks and had not wanted to go out. However, she was not willing to miss out on the Afternoon Tea Parties that she enjoys so much, and made a special effort to attend .
The event was once again well attended with guests enjoying savoury and sweet delights catered by Julie Green, from Julie’s Cafe and Outside Catering.
Entertainment was provided by George and Marie Brown, who also hold twice weekly Tea Dances at Skelton Civic Hall.
£79.72 was collected in donations for the Chair’s Charities, the Motor Neurone Disease Association and The Great North Air Ambulance.
Chair of Skelton and Brotton Parish Council, Councillor Angus McDonald thanked everyone for attending, the Parish Council Staff for ‘waiting’ the tables, and thanked George and Marie for making the event so enjoyable.
He later said that once again the event had been thoroughly enjoyed by those who attended, and for people to watch out for the next event in June, which will also mark the Queen’s 90th Birthday.
