Skelton and Brotton Parish Council Children’s Easter Fitness Sessions
Following the success of the Summer Children’s Fitness Sessions, Skelton and Brotton Parish Council were pleased to introduce Free Children’s Fitness Sessions in the Easter Holidays.
There was a session each week in the Civic Hall, Skelton and at St. Peter’s School in Brotton.
Children from the Skelton and Brotton Parish Council area could book to come along to the sessions and participate in a variety of fitness activities. The Parish Council also provided healthy refreshments for those attending.
Karen Winspear, qualified instructor for physical activity in children, who works in partnership with the Parish Council to deliver the sessions said ‘it's been wonderful to see children from Skelton and Brotton raise their hearts over the Easter Half term. A lot of children don't play out like we used to and certainly there is an epidemic of paediatric inactivity. By stepping away from their games consoles and tv's, coming out to a bootcamp, a dance and a glow session not only increases confidence in ability, but they leave feeling stronger. A lot left inspired to continue with physical activities before returning to school. A huge thank you goes out to Skelton & Brotton Parish Council for their continued support to our community and especially for the welcome funding for our younger residents’.
The sessions are due to be repeated during three weeks of the Summer holidays. Bookings for these sessions will be taken online from Monday 4 June 2018. The sessions are very popular so please book early to avoid disappointment. Please note that strict funding criteria means that only children from the Skelton and Brotton Parish Council area are eligible to attend.
